All gatherings are now prohibited in five Oise municipalities, including Crépy-en-Valois. But these prohibition measures were put in place with a little confusion: a market was, for example, closed on Sunday morning, while a large area remained open ... Report of Europe 1 with perplexed inhabitants.

REPORTAGE

Imbroglio Sunday morning at the Crépy-en-Valois market, in the Oise department. While the early vegetables, market gardeners, butchers came to settle as usual at dawn, the gendarmerie came to dislodge them ... The government has indeed moved into high gear to limit the spread of the coronavirus. Several binding measures announced on Saturday took effect on Sunday, notably in the Oise, the main focus with 36 cases out of the hundred identified in France. Any gathering is thus prohibited in five municipalities, including Crépy-en-Valois.

Perplexity among regulars in the market

"We had been there for 6 hours, selling, and the gendarmerie forbade us to sell. We had to send our customers away," protested Loïc, a fruit and vegetable merchant. "On Saturday, we called the porter and the town hall three times, there was no ban. And this morning, 9:30 am, we are banned! The goods are there, what are we doing? Actually less than 20 meters away, on the other side of the street, the large area is not affected by the decree since it is private. "We are outdoors, we risk almost nothing, while in there it is all confined ... It's nonsense," said a resident who has trouble understanding the logic. "It's also a crowd in a store! We are in a messy communication", judge two other Crépynois. Even the deputy mayor seems to have trouble understanding, and refers to the prefect.

"It's not the plague, the thing"

However, these measures do not prevent the vast majority of residents from shopping in downtown shops. "We are not going to do like everyone else. I saw people who put disinfectant on cans, everything they touched, we must stop!" Laughs a passerby. "It's not the plague thing, it's like the flu. Even if you can catch it, it can be cured too."
