A 33-year-old Sudanese patient faces serious health complications that threaten her life, due to her inability to complete her treatment trip from multiple sclerosis (MS), as a result of the poor financial conditions of her family.

The patient "Umniah" needs 173 thousand dirhams, which is the value of the last dose of her treatment, but her family is unable to manage this amount, and she appeals to the owners of compassionate hearts to help her manage the cost of her treatment to save her from illness.

The medical report issued by Al-Mafraq Hospital confirmed that the patient, “Umniah,” suffered from severe pain in her left leg, underwent tomography, ultrasound, and magnetic resonance imaging, and it was found that she had multiple sclerosis (MS).

According to the patient, she fell ill in 2011, as she felt numbness in the left leg, inability to move, and loss of balance while walking, and this was accompanied by a feeling of extreme fatigue.

She added: “My father took me to a private hospital in Abu Dhabi, and after performing the tests and doing a CT scan for the left leg, the doctor stressed the need to take a sample to ensure the accuracy of the diagnosis, and at that time he would only prescribe some analgesics and vitamins for me pending the results of the sample. A week later, he confirmed that I had MS, and he prescribed certain medications for me, which is cortisone injections for three days, after which I did not suspect any symptoms for about a year. In 2012, I felt weakness in the left part of my body, which caused me some paralysis, the inability to see clearly, in addition to dizziness, aches and itching in various parts of my body, so my father transferred me to a private hospital, where I had blood tests and an MRI scan . The doctor told us that the sclerosis reached a more severe stage, which necessitated the change of drugs and injections, and giving me cortisone pills for seven years, in addition to a preventive injection for a week ».

"The symptoms reappeared in 2018, and my father took me to the medical city of Shakhbout, where I had my previous tests again," the patient continued. The doctor who follows my case stressed the need to stop the medication and take a new drug, which is two doses, the first of which I took in 2018, and I had to take the second in September last year, but my father was unable to renew the health card, because of the financial situation he is going through, as he works in The private sector has a salary of 5,000 dirhams, and the value of the dose is 173 thousand dirhams.

She continued, "The disease is ravaging my body, and sadness hangs over the family, as its members stand unable to pay the cost of treatment."

The patient went to the people of benevolence, hoping that someone would help her, because her health condition was deteriorating, and her psychological state was difficult.

She stressed that: "My illness is a source of intense pressure on my family, especially my father, who is deeply saddened by his inability to help me."

Umniah: “My illness is a source of intense pressure on my father because he was unable to help me.”
