France has reduced the size of its nuclear arsenal to less than 300 warheads, President Emmanuel Macron said on Friday, touting the country's "exemplary record" in terms of disarmament.

France "has a record that is unique in the world, consistent with its responsibilities as well as its interests, having irreversibly dismantled its terrestrial nuclear component, its nuclear test facilities, its facilities for the production of fissile material for weapons, and reduced the size of its arsenal, today less than 300 nuclear weapons, "said the Head of State in a speech on the French nuclear defense and deterrence strategy.
