Emirates Airlines has supported the trip of three citizens to the Arctic to study environmental changes caused by global warming, as part of increasing the awareness of the young generation on sustainability issues.

Support included Amira Muhammad Al-Harnaki Al-Marzouqi, Maitha Al-Zaabi and Shorouk Al-Sharhan on their visit to Norway and then proceeded from her to their expedition to the North Pole.

The Arctic is filled with huge ice sheets that are home to large numbers of polar bears, reindeer gazelle, puffin birds, as well as other types of plants and animals.

This fragile ecosystem suffers from accelerated climate change and rising temperatures. The impact of global warming on the Arctic has caused sea levels to rise, irregular climate patterns in the northern hemisphere and a loss of biological diversity.

Amira Mohammed Al-Harnaki Al-Marzouqi, an Emirati master’s student, seeks to lead environmental change, raise awareness about sustainability issues, and motivate the younger generation in the United Arab Emirates .. Last June, she traveled on a six-day trip as Ambassador to Climate Force Global with "2041 Foundation" and under the umbrella of the "Leadership on the Edge Program" program .. This trip is considered its third exploration after she traveled to Antarctica in 2015 and 2016 .. The mission of the Foundation is to inspire and involve young people, businessmen and politicians in the initiative to take measures Environmental.

During the expedition, she watched Marzouki and her two colleagues closely melt the glaciers and shatter the icebergs. The Arctic was not spared from plastic pollution and marine debris, underscoring the urgent need to take the necessary measures and combat the effects of climate change.

“Amira” is constantly communicating with local schools and universities to show her exploratory adventures and help inspire the new generation of environmental pioneers by monitoring natural resource consumption, using renewable energy, recycling and adopting sustainability practices.
