The Syrian anti-aircraft defenses intercepted missiles targeting the T4 air base in Homs province on Tuesday (January 14th), Syrian television reported. Damascus accuses Israel of being behind the attack.

"The Israeli air force carried out a new aggression against the T4 airport (...). Immediately, the air defense confronted the enemy missiles, shooting down a number of them," assured a military source to the Sana official agency, reporting however material damage.

Since the start of the Syrian conflict in 2011, Israel has carried out several raids in Syria against the power of Damascus but also its steadfast allies, Iran and Lebanese Hezbollah, enemies of the Hebrew state.

The T4 air base has already been the target of several Israeli raids. Israel accuses Iran of transferring weapons to Hezbollah on this basis. "Regime forces, Iranian forces and Russian military advisers are stationed at T4 military airport," director of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (OSDH) Rami Abdel Rahmane reminded AFP. .
