"Knee Mochi Shinji", which sticks on your knees instead of knees Matsue December 26, 12:30

An unusual ritual in which rice cakes are used instead of knees to make rice cakes was held in Matsue City.

This ritual is held annually on December 26 at Katae Shrine, located in Katae district of Mihoseki-machi, Matsue city, and it is called "Kazamochi ritual". .

This ritual is said to have begun when the Ninja Betsumei visited this area, and that the residents who had finished mochi for the New Year's day and were clearing their mortars and kins were getting their mochi on their knees. .

In the shrine's shrine, steamed rice cake 3 sho and red bean 1 sho were wrapped in a gossip, and four local kindergarten children and elementary school boys attached rice cakes using both knees.

The children sat in their seats, crossed their shoulders, occasionally saying "hot, hot," etc., with rice cakes on their knees.

Then, when the rice cakes came up and the clans joined, they cut them out with rice scoops and shaped them.

A boy in the first grade of elementary school said, "It was a bit hot but it was fun."

Mr. Keisuke Teramoto, the representative of Ujiko, said, "I hope the district will have a healthy year again next year."

It is said that the rice cakes will be offered to the main shrine and distributed to about 180 houses in the district on January 6 of the new year.
