Bolivia's famous “road of death” may not be a place to expect to see a 70-year-old grandmother on a bicycle.
The most dangerous road in the world stretches from lowland forests to glacier Andes peaks and reaches an altitude of over 3,350 meters.
Thousands were likely to be the victims of this bumpy road, with Salke's difficulties ranging from fog, rain, rockslides and steep slopes.
But for Bolivia's grandmother Merta Munyoth, participating in the Sky Race "Sky Race" on this road was a logical decision that fits into a hobby she had been practicing for years.
Munyoth began cycling in response to advice from her family and psychiatrist after her son died suddenly.
"He told me ... a bike can help you get past your pain," she said.
"It's a climb," she said after finishing the 60-km race.
