Smoke from Ikata Nuclear Power Station Unit 3 No radioactive material leakage September 5, 19:49

On the afternoon of the 5th, smoke was emitted from the pump installed in the reactor auxiliary building of Unit 3 at Ikata Nuclear Power Station in Ikata Town, Ehime Prefecture. According to Shikoku Electric Power, the smoke stops immediately and there is no leak of radioactive material.

Around 3:30 pm on the 5th, at the Ikata Nuclear Power Station in Kumachi, Ikatacho, Shikoku Electric's staff reported to the fire department that “white smoke is rising from the Unit 3 building”.

The smoke came out from the pump motor installed in the radiation control area of ​​Unit 3 Reactor Auxiliary Building. During the monthly inspection, the smoke suddenly rose.

The pump was far from the building where the nuclear reactor was located, and it had no effect on power generation. The smoke had stopped when the fire department rushed.

According to Shikoku Electric Power, there are no injuries due to this trouble, and there is no leakage of radioactive materials.

The cause is being investigated.

The Ikata Nuclear Power Station Unit 3 was restarted in October last year and resumed commercial operation from November of the following month.
