Frenchman Antoine Ober died after a high-speed accident during the Belgian Grand Prix in the Formula 2 series, the FIA announced.
Uber, 22, crashed into Juan Manuel Correa's high-speed car on the second lap of the race after he had already pulled off the track to the hurdles.
The union pointed to the death of the driver of the team, "BWT Jordan" came after a serious accident on the famous circuit, explaining, in a statement, according to Agence France-Presse: "emergency teams and ambulance immediately came to the place, and the drivers were transferred to the medical center," and continued: "As a result of the incident, Alfea regrets to announce that the 19th driver of the car. Antoine Hubert, died of his wounds."
