The pandemic rules will be relaxed for those who have been fully vaccinated and those who have recovered from Corona.

One day after the Bundestag, the corresponding ordinance also passed the Bundesrat on Friday.

The regulation comes into force on Sunday, said Federal Justice Minister Christine Lambrecht (SPD).

"This is a very important step towards more normalcy," said the minister about the new regulation.

According to the regulation, contact and exit restrictions for fully vaccinated and convalescents will no longer apply on Sunday.

They are not counted when meeting other people.

So, for example, in regions with high numbers of infections, two non-vaccinated people could meet with an unlimited number of people who had been vaccinated.

Vaccinated people no longer have to show a test in shops or at the hairdresser's.

Evening exit restrictions are also omitted for both groups.

After traveling or after contact with infected people, they usually no longer need to be in quarantine - unless you have contracted a virus variant that is not yet widespread in Germany or you are traveling from a virus variant area.

The restrictions will be lifted because, according to the Robert Koch Institute, vaccinated and convalescent people are hardly at risk of transmitting the coronavirus.

People are considered fully vaccinated 14 days after their second vaccination and have recovered if the infection was not more than six months ago.

Mask compulsory still applies

For them, however, the mask and distance requirements still apply.

They are also denied visits to restaurants and hotels for the time being because the establishments are still closed in most of the federal states.

Justice Minister Christine Lambrecht (SPD) stressed in the Bundestag on Thursday that the rule of law must apply, especially in times of crisis.

Fundamental rights could be restricted in order to protect life and health and to ensure the functioning of the health system.

Since, according to the scientific expertise of the RKI, those who have been vaccinated and recovered could at least infect other people to a significantly lesser extent, the reason for restrictions on fundamental rights no longer applies.

North Rhine-Westphalia Prime Minister Armin Laschet (CDU) urged those vaccinated to “deal responsibly with their own happiness”.

To avoid frustration and envy of those who cannot yet be vaccinated, you should not act too exuberantly.

The regulation was passed quickly.

Only on Tuesday did the federal government get the regulation off the ground.

The Bundestag approved the ordinance on Thursday.
