Berlin (dpa) - Exit and contact restrictions due to Corona will no longer apply to those who have been completely vaccinated and to people who have recovered from Covid-19 in Germany in the future.

For example, people in nursing homes have had to eat alone in their rooms for a long time and will be able to eat again in the dining room in the future, or that siblings can visit their mothers together on Mother's Day.

Justice Minister Christine Lambrecht (SPD) said this when discussing a corresponding ordinance in the Bundestag on Thursday.

According to the Bundestag, the Bundesrat wants to approve the ordinance this Friday.

The relief could therefore come into force at the weekend.

Lambrecht referred to the Federal Constitutional Court, which the day before had rejected urgent applications against night exit restrictions in the course of the Corona emergency brake.

She said fundamental rights could be restricted in order to protect life and health and ensure the health system's functioning.

However, the restrictions would also have to be removed - “namely when this good reason ceases to exist”.

Those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered could only endanger others to a much lesser extent.

The Justice Minister also emphasized that the pandemic had to be fought further.

"We all have to work flat out so that these steps towards normality will soon not only apply to those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered, but that we will all work our way back to this long-awaited normality."
