The first two episodes of "B.R.I", the new police series of Canal +, are broadcast this Monday, April 24 on the encrypted channel. Directed by Jérémie Guez, co-writer of the thriller "Black Box" with Pierre Niney, "B.R.I" offers an immersion in the Research and Intervention Brigade, a body of the judicial police very rarely seen on the screen, with the cast of very promising young actors but also Emmanuelle Devos and Vincent Elbaz.

Get ready to hold your breath... This Monday, April 24, Canal + broadcasts the first two episodes of B.R.I, its new police series breathless and particularly muscular. Directed by Jérémie Guez, a fan of crime fiction to whom we owe the film Sons of Philadelphia with Matthias Schoenaerts, B.R.I offers an ultra-rhythmic immersion within the Versailles Research and Intervention Brigade, with a gang of young policemen with a mind of steel.

What is the B.R.I series about?

These elite cops, Badri, Vanessa, Julien and Socrates, have a mission: to fight against organized crime, organized robbery and terrorism. They evolve under the orders of their new leader Saïd (Sofian Khammes), a former member of the special forces who cut his teeth in intelligence in Syria. It is Patrick (Bruno Todeschini), a police officer appreciated by all with questionable methods, who chose him to replace him at the time of his retirement.

When he arrived at the head of the team, Saïd sought to impose himself in his own way. He wants to respect the rules, especially not to get into shenanigans with bandits, unlike Patrick, very close to a big boss of the underworld, played by Vincent Elbaz ... But Saïd quickly comes up against the reality on the ground and the mistrust of some young cops, while a gang war is about to break out in Paris...

Is B.R.I worth a look?

This new original creation is proof that the paw of Canal+ still exists. Because B.R.I is not just a detective series. If it is part of the heritage of Braquo and Gears, it renews the genre by playing with the traditional codes of the thriller. And it's very successful: the eight episodes of this season, hyper intense, hold in suspense from beginning to end. We follow the interventions of Saïd, Badri, Vanessa, Julien and Socrates, fear in their stomachs, ready to jump at the slightest shot: the action scenes made of forceful arrests, anti-terrorist or anti-gang intervention operations, shootings or hold-ups, are very credible.

The interest of B.R.I lies not only in these large-scale scenes, but also in the moments of intimacy and questioning of these policemen. Jérémie Guez affirms it: he wanted to "reinject the human into the cops and thugs", whose bonds of friendship and enmity he explores without concession.

This reflection on the balance of power and transmission within the B.R.I but also outside, gives rise to a generational shock perfectly embodied on the screen. The young people of the B.R.I. are indeed played by actors on the rise: Sofian Khammes, Ophélie Bau, Théo Christine, Rabah Nait Oufella and Waël Sersoub. The chefs are played by seasoned actors such as Emmanuelle Devos and Bruno Todeschini.

The icing on the cake: the last episode of B.R.I (with a thrilling action scene) suggests an equally breathless sequel with, we hope, the same exceptional cast...
