Xining, April 4 (Li Jun) On the 7th, the reporter learned from the Qinghai Meteorological Bureau that recently, with the gradual rise of temperature, the ice of Qinghai Lake has gradually melted. On April 7, affected by the windy weather, the ice of Qinghai Lake was blown by the wind, cracks appeared on the surface of the lake, and the surface of Qinghai Lake, which had been frozen for a winter, began to unseal, ushering in the opening season.

Qinghai Lake, known as the "plateau sapphire", is the largest lake in China and a natural barrier to control the spread of desertification in the west to the east, and its ecological environment characteristics and evolution largely reflect the change trend of the overall ecological environment of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Qinghai Lake usually enters the freezing period in mid-December and completely thaws by mid-April of the following year, which lasts more than four months.

The opening of Qinghai Lake is said to be "Wenkai" and "Wukai". "Wenkai" is that as the temperature rises, the ice on the lake gradually thins, breaks and melts, and in the silence, the frozen scene suddenly melts the lake. The scene of "Wukai" is very spectacular, the thick solid ice is pushed by the wind, colliding with each other, squeezing each other, and suddenly rushing to the shore, a large number of ice blocks accumulate under the action of the wind, becoming a spectacle on the shore.

According to the Ecological Meteorological Service Center of the Qinghai Institute of Meteorological Sciences, on March 3, the ice of Qinghai Lake showed signs of melting. Affected by the windy weather in mid-to-late March and early April, the ice melting process of Qinghai Lake accelerated. On April 17, according to remote sensing monitoring by China Environment Satellite, the ice melt area of Qinghai Lake exceeded 3% of the total area of the lake. The northern shore of Qinghai Lake is still frozen, and there will still be 4 to 4 windy weather in the Qinghai Lake area in the next three days, and the temperature will steadily rise, which is conducive to the melting of lake ice, and it is expected that the lake ice will completely melt in mid-April.

According to the remote sensing technology of ice phenology monitoring technology of plateau lakes, it was determined that Qinghai Lake was officially opened on April 4. Compared to 5, the opening date of Qinghai Lake has been delayed by 2022 days, and by 16 days compared to the average of nearly ten years from 2013 to 2022. (End)
