Jusaburo Tsujimura, a puppet artist known for works such as NHK's serial puppet show "Shin Hakkenden", passed away at a hospital in Hiroshima Prefecture on the 5th of this month.

Jusaburo Tsujimura, who was originally from Manchuria, returned to Hiroshima at the age of 11, the year before the end of the war, and spent about 10 years in his mother's hometown of Miyoshi.



At the age of 22, he moved to Tokyo to create puppets, and in 1973 he was in charge of the puppet art for the NHK puppet show "Shin Hakkenden," which drew a terrifying world view and suddenly came into the spotlight.

Since then, he has released many creative dolls, and worked energetically both in Japan and overseas, such as designing stage costumes for director Yukio Ninagawa, and became one of Japan's leading puppet artists.



It is said that his work expresses the sensibility of Mr. Tsujimura, who was raised in Miyoshi City, which is rich in nature.
