Around 4:50 pm on the 19th, a light passenger car driven by a 97-year-old man hit a woman on the sidewalk on a city road in Minamiyanome, Fukushima City.



According to the police, this mini passenger car collided with three cars one after another, including a passenger car waiting for a signal, and was caught between the car and a roadside tree and stopped.



In this accident, Hitomi Kawamura (42), a school lunch cook who lived nearby who was on the sidewalk, hit her whole body and was transported to a hospital in the city, but she died about two hours later.



In addition, the 97-year-old driver of the mini passenger car and the four women who were in the two cars that were hit were both slightly injured.



According to police, the mini passenger car driven by the 97-year-old was seen driving on the sidewalk.



Police are investigating the cause of the accident.



The site was about 2 kilometers southwest of JR Higashi-Fukushima Station on a one-lane city road with good visibility, and there was no guardrail between the roadway and the sidewalk.
