Two men discovered a bust of Adolf Hitler during a fishing trip in the Loire, this Sunday in Saumur (Maine-et-Loire), reports

Le Courrier de l'Ouest

.

The object was seen by one of them less than a meter deep near the shore.

" I was shocked "

The man thought he would come across a figurine or a child's toy.

But it is indeed a small bust of Adolph Hitler that he pulled out of the water.

“I had a moment of amazement.

I was shocked,” he told the regional daily.

❓❔❓ The director of the Resistance and Freedom Regional Center believes that this object must be seriously appraised, which could well be rare if it is vintage https://t.co/atuAptnrTn

The two men introduced him to a history professor friend who confirmed to them that it was indeed the Führer.

Given its good state of preservation, it seems unlikely that it dates from the time of the Second World War.

It would have been thrown into the Loire relatively recently.

The fishermen will try to have the bust appraised and then plan to contact museums to find out if such an object may interest them.
