Joaquín Sabina

has broken up with Pancho Varona

after four decades of close relationship.

It was Varona himself who communicated it on social networks.

"Joaquín Sabina has decided, against all odds,

not to count on me on his next tour

," says who has been Sabina's most faithful squire.

The message refers to the very name of the

tour

that Sabina has announced for 2023, which is called Against All Odds.

"I want to thank him with all my heart for the

100 songs that we wrote together

, the 40 tours that I accompanied him on and the 15 albums on which I was his producer," added Pancho Varona in his statement, which underlines the 40-year relationship that both have maintained up to now.

Pancho Varona

is a figure much loved by Sabina fans and very present on the Madrid concert circuit.

The statement ends with a "I'm so sorry" that makes it clear that the break has been bitter for him.

Born in Madrid in 1957, Pancho Varona was part of Viceversa and since 1982 he has concentrated his professional career on the career of Joaquín Sabina until one seemed impossible without the other.

Joaquín Sabina's tour

will

start on February 25 in San José, Costa Rica and will arrive in Spain on April 20, 2023, in what will mean his return to the stage three years after the spectacular fall he suffered during a performance in Madrid in 2020.
