Even if they are more frequent in times of strike, the metro trains full to bursting multiply on certain Parisian lines.

Users sometimes have to let several trains pass before they can take one.

Brut asked Michel Babut, vice-president of the Association of Transport Users, what the phenomenon was due to…

“There are several reasons,” he explains.

On the one hand, Île-de-France Mobilités – which is the organizing authority for transport in Île-de-France – asked the RATP to provide a slightly reduced service;

on the other hand, this same RATP is apparently not able to ensure the circulation of all the metro trains that would correspond to the request of Île-de-France Mobilités”, he explains.

“Almost a quarter of the metros on certain lines would be missing”

“It is obvious with lines 12 and 13, on which almost a quarter of the metros are missing compared to the situation before Covid, continues Michel Babut.

And this reduced offer is because attendance is lower than the attendance observed before the epidemic, and because Île-de-France Mobilités has funding problems and is trying to save money by reducing metro traffic ” .
