Emirates Food Bank and Deliveroo launch an initiative to reduce food waste

The Emirates Food Bank announced the launch of an initiative aimed at reducing food waste and benefiting from surplus food in cooperation with Deliveroo.

The initiative includes donating all surplus food items suitable for consumption in the “



Deliveroo Hop” stores to organizations and charities in the UAE, to be distributed in the next stage to the beneficiaries.



Opportunities for partnership with food service authorities The cooperation comes to benefit from surplus food, based on the role of such partnerships in enabling the Bank to make a big difference in the lives of many beneficiaries, and we look forward to expanding this distinguished partnership with the company in the future.



For his part, Anis Harb, General Manager of Deliveroo in the Middle East, praised the cooperation with the Emirates Food Bank in the framework of supporting national efforts to reduce food waste by 50 percent by 2030, stressing the quest to benefit from surplus food, following the launch of the integrated life campaign. In the UAE last August, in addition to the “Hop” service specialized in the delivery of grocery products.The



initiative aims to reduce food waste in the “Hop” network stores for express delivery of grocery orders, in line with the UAE’s goals to reduce food waste by 50 percent by 2030, and achieving the country's food security strategy.



These efforts come to promote building a sustainable food system, to contribute to reducing food waste and to enhance the level of support provided to beneficiary groups throughout the UAE.
