Called to participate in the arrest of a man suspected of drug trafficking, Warrant Officer Jean-Christophe Bolloch had succeeded in his mission perfectly.

A few minutes later, the gendarme was hit by a heavy weight while he was posted on the side of the highway near Saint-Mards-de-Blacarville (Eure).

The driver of the truck would have "lost control and hit the device put in place during the removal of the suspect vehicle", according to the public prosecutor of Rennes.

A member of the Rennes Research Section, Jean-Christophe Bolloch was killed instantly.

Another warrant officer from Saint-Malo (Ille-et-Vilaine) was seriously injured, his vital prognosis engaged.

Since the tragedy, tributes have poured in to salute the memory of the 47-year-old warrant officer.

During the questions to the Government, the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin paid tribute to the Rennes policeman, triggering the applause of the National Assembly.

Married since 2003 and father of three girls and a boy aged 8 to 18, Jean-Christophe Bolloch joined in 1999 as an auxiliary policeman.

Trained at the school of non-commissioned officers in Le Mans, he launched his career in the territorial brigade of Montfort L'Amaury (Yvelines) before being assigned to Guingamp after obtaining the judicial police officer examination. .

"His pronounced taste for the investigation" had brought him to Rennes where he had joined the research section in 2016, specifies the gendarmerie.

In 2019, he was appointed head of the investigative group.

“We will all miss this man whose company we enjoyed most pleasantly because of his kindness, his altruism and all these other qualities which made him a true friend”, reacted the Breton territorial canine association.

A kitty was opened by the Maison de la gendarmerie foundation, which helps widows and children.
