The police said - in a statement - “At a gas station, one of the suspects tried to hit the police officers who were there with a hammer.”

She indicated that she suspected that "the incident that occurred near the Megiddo Junction in the north of the country was an attack," stressing that police officers "controlled the attacker and arrested him without any other casualties."

A video clip posted on social media showed Israeli security forces at the scene of the accident near a highway and a car that went off its track.

The police have not provided details about the identity of the attacker until now, and no party has claimed responsibility for the incident.
