The shipment of "Gensuke Daikon", which is cultivated in Kanazawa City and used as an ingredient for oden, has begun.

"Gensuke Daikon" is one of the Kaga vegetables that 20 farmers continue to cultivate in Kanazawa City.

The name comes from the name of a man from Aichi Prefecture who was the original owner of the seeds brought to Kanazawa in the early Showa period.

Shipping began on the 24th, and more than 3 tons of harvested "Gensuke Daikon" were brought to JA's collection and shipping site in Kanazawa city.

“Gensuke radish” has a thin skin and is soft, but it is also easy to crack, so the farmers carefully checked the condition.

According to JA Kanazawa City, although there was a delay in growth due to heavy rains and other factors, the timing and amount of shipments were the same as in an average year, and more than 230 tons are expected to be shipped by early February next year. .

Mitsuaki Matsumoto, head of the JA Kanazawa City Uchiki Gensuke Daikon Department, said, “We have created fresh and delicious Gensuke Daikon.

"Gensuke Daikon" is shipped not only in Ishikawa Prefecture, but also in Kansai and the Tokyo metropolitan area.
