China News Service, Beijing, October 14th. The achievements made in the transformation and upgrading of China's manufacturing industry have once again been internationally recognized.

The reporter learned from the World Economic Forum on the 14th that it recently announced 11 new factories to join its global lighthouse network, of which 5 factories are located in China, namely Ningde Times Yibin Factory, Haier Qingdao Factory, Midea Shunde Factory, Sany Heavy Industry Changsha Factory and Western Digital Shanghai factory.

Up to now, there are 114 "lighthouse factories" in the world, of which 42 are located in China, accounting for more than 30%.

China is currently the country with the largest number of "lighthouse factories".

The Global Beacon Network is a collaborative project between the World Economic Forum and international consulting giant McKinsey & Company, dedicated to leading the application of advanced technologies in the Fourth Industrial Revolution to continuously improve productivity and employee engagement, promote sustainable development and supply chain resilience.

According to reports, these lighthouse factories use fourth industrial revolution technologies such as artificial intelligence, 3D printing and big data analysis to improve efficiency and competitiveness on a large scale, transform business models to drive economic growth, enhance labor capacity, and protect the environment, promoting various industries. Manufacturers in various regions and industries participate in the learning.

According to Francisco Betti, director of the World Economic Forum's "Shaping the Future of Advanced Manufacturing and Value Chains" platform, manufacturing is the backbone of social and economic development.

Under the premise of adopting the right corporate strategies and industrial policies, the manufacturing industry can also provide high-paying jobs in times of crisis, promote business innovation, and promote environmental sustainability.

The new additions to the global lighthouse network are a testament to manufacturers achieving business goals while positively impacting the economy, livelihoods and the environment.

Enno de Boer, global managing partner of McKinsey & Company and global head of digital manufacturing, believes that these newly selected lighthouse factories show that in order to achieve large-scale development of manufacturing, three necessary conditions must be met, namely, a clear strategy, Staff competence and a strong level of governance.
