On September 20, the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee held a series of press conferences on the theme of "This Decade of China". Huang Liuquan, deputy director of the Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office of the State Council, introduced that the two special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macau have overcome various challenges and their development and construction are advancing steadily.

Whether it is the adverse changes in the external environment, the severe impact brought by the new crown pneumonia epidemic, or some violent social unrest, they have not stopped the progress of Hong Kong and Macao.

From the perspective of Hong Kong, Hong Kong’s status as an international financial, shipping, trade center and international aviation hub has been further consolidated and improved. The construction of an international innovation and technology center, an international legal and dispute resolution service center in the Asia-Pacific region, a regional intellectual property trade center, and a Sino-foreign cultural and artistic exchange center Positive progress has been made.

From the perspective of Macao, Macao’s economy is developing rapidly, its per capita GDP has entered the forefront of the world, and emerging industries such as convention and exhibition, traditional Chinese medicine, characteristic finance, and cultural and creative industries are in the ascendant, and the moderate economic diversification has achieved initial results.

The two special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macao have made all-round progress in social undertakings such as education and technology, medical and health care, culture and sports, continuously expanded foreign exchanges, and significantly increased their international influence.
