Italian Prime Minister announces his resignation

Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi announced today, Thursday, his resignation from his post, the Italian Nova Agency reported.

"I want to announce tonight that my resignation is in the hands of the President of the Republic," Draghi said, in a statement to the Council of Ministers, noting that "the vote in Parliament today is a very important event from a political point of view."

Five Star Movement deputies were absent from the Italian Senate when calling for a vote of confidence for the government to pass the aid decree.
