The week starts again with thunderstorms.

From Monday afternoon, the German Weather Service (DWD) is expecting increased heavy rain, gusty winds and hail, especially from Baden-Württemberg and Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland via Bavaria and Hesse to central Germany.

Especially in the west and south, the probability of locally severe thunderstorms with severe weather potential due to heavy rain and heavy gusts of wind is high.

In the south, a low tornado risk cannot be ruled out, the DWD said.

The weather is expected to calm down later in the evening and on Tuesday night.

Single showers are only expected from the southwest.

The high "Zeus" brought sunny weather in large parts of Germany on Sunday.

"Finja" has the potential for a strong thunderstorm, the DWD announced on Sunday in Offenbach.

"However, 'Finja' cannot keep up with 'Emmelinde' from last Friday in almost all parameters," said a meteorologist.

The summery weather is over for now.

On Tuesday, the DWD initially expects cloudy weather and occasional showers of increased precipitation.

Thunderstorms are expected to become less frequent as the day progresses.

Especially in the north there are only isolated showers.

The temperatures reach highs between 18 and 22 and in the higher mountains around 16 degrees.

Wednesday night is expected to remain slightly cloudy and precipitation-free with a drop in temperature to nine to five degrees.
