Following the confirmation of bird flu at a poultry farm in Saijo City, Ehime Prefecture, the disposal of chickens at the poultry farm, which had been underway since the 31st of last month, was completed on the 2nd.

Highly pathogenic "H5 type" avian influenza virus was detected in chickens that died at a poultry farm in Saijo City, and the prefecture has been raising about 136,000 chickens at this poultry farm 24 hours a day since 31st last month. I was in the process of disposing of the chicken.

According to the prefecture, a total of about 2,000 people, including employees of the prefecture and Saijo City, were involved in the work, and all the disposal was completed around 3:20 pm on the 2nd.

In the future, in addition to disposing of chicken eggs and manure by burning them, we will also disinfect the chicken farm.

In addition, the prefecture continues to take measures to designate the poultry farm within a radius of 3 km as a "restricted movement area" that prohibits the movement of chickens and eggs, and within a radius of 10 km as a "restricted export area" that prohibits shipping from that area. In addition, we will prevent the spread of infection by disinfecting livestock-related vehicles near the boundaries of restricted areas.
