It was found that chickens in another poultry farm in Saijo City, Ehime Prefecture, adjacent to the poultry farm where bird flu was detected, were infected with bird flu.

The prefecture decided to dispose of an additional 230,000 birds and requested the Self-Defense Forces to dispatch a disaster.

Highly pathogenic "H5 type" bird flu was detected in dead chickens at a poultry farm in Saijo City, and about 136,000 chickens have been disposed of since the 31st of last month.



According to the prefecture, on the morning of the 4th, abnormalities such as the death of a chicken were found at two adjacent poultry farms, and as a result of a simple test, infection with bird flu was confirmed.



For this reason, the prefecture held a countermeasures headquarters meeting from 5 pm on the 4th to discuss the response, and in addition to the two farms in Saijo City, one of them and another farm in Imabari City with the same manager. We have decided to additionally dispose of approximately 230,000 birds raised in three locations in total.



The work is scheduled to start at 6:30 pm, and this time we also requested the Self-Defense Forces to dispatch a disaster.

After the meeting, Governor Nakamura said, "Since the Self-Defense Forces will be able to join us from tonight, we would like to work together."
