A few hours before igniting the audience of the Vieilles Charrues with the music of his latest album, "S16", and a monumental visual installation, Woodkid returns to Emilie Mazoyer's microphone, live from the festival, on the music that he will compose to announce the Paris 2024 Olympics during the Tokyo Games.

"It is with honor and emotion that I accepted the invitation to build the first musical speech for the Olympic Games in Paris."

On Friday, Woodkid announced on his Instagram account that he would participate, with original music, in the closing ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics on August 8 to announce the following Games, those to be held in the French capital in 2024. Saturday, he specifies at the microphone of Emilie Mazoyer for Europe 1 what his participation will consist of.

"There is a moment during the closing ceremony that we call the 'endover'."

It is a kind of ceremony within the ceremony which allows the next city, Paris in this case, to present a little bit what will be the signature, the idea, the color of the next Games, "explains the singer. . I have the impression of entering a territory which inspires me enormously", he estimates. "There is the whole orchestral dimension of the Olympics which is now something that I am still a little used to apprehend and to work on."

"And above all, there is something a little bit more political for me, which is what Olympism represents in a city, what it is supposed to represent of the world, and how that fits into the world from a societal and artistic point of view, ”he adds.

"Olympism is obviously great moments of sport. But it can also be synonymous with great moments of humanity. Rather, that's what I want to defend with my music."

 on the city's candidacy film. "It was the first connection with Paris 2024. They came back to me very quickly, confidentially, to find out if I would be interested in a first try", adds the singer and director.

"The relationship then grew. The Tokyo games were canceled, then moved for a year," he recalls. "This speech will take place on August 8.
