NANTES, 03/21/2013 The city of Nantes offers residents free to collect seed kits to grow resistant flowers in the interstices of sidewalks or at the foot of trees -

A little ray of sunshine in this somewhat gloomy spring.

From this Monday and for a month, Nantes residents who wish can go and get a seed kit from the town hall.

As every year (the operation had been postponed to 2020, due to confinement), about twenty municipalities in the metropolis offer 7,500 small bags free of charge accompanied by a guide to encourage residents to flower their streets.

No need for a planter or a large grassy space: just mix the seeds in sand and potting soil and then sow them at the foot of trees, in front of the facades of its street or in the cracks in the sidewalks, indicates Nantes Métropole.

The selected flowers (poppy, knapweed, cornflower, bellflower, wallflower, etc.) also have the advantage of not requiring much water, and of regrowing on their own the following year.

In Nantes, "more than 1,200 flowery streets have appeared in different neighborhoods since the launch of the operation in 2013".

A new distribution will take place from September 20 to November 19.
