Four returning college students were admitted to the fever clinic at the same time

According to our newspaper (Reporter Yang Xujun, Correspondent Liu Hui) Recently, four college students who had just returned to school came to the fever clinic of Beijing You'an Hospital at a time. They also developed fever, and some of them had respiratory symptoms.

After an emergency diagnosis, it was found that it was a false alarm-all 4 people in the same dormitory had humidified pneumonia because of improper use of humidifiers.

Clinically, the body temperature of the 4 people was between 38°C and 38.5°C, and some of them had sore throat, but they had no symptoms such as cough and sputum, abdominal pain, diarrhea, frequent urination, and urgency.

Is it a cluster epidemic?

The Department of Respiratory and Infectious Diseases of Beijing You'an Hospital immediately reported the situation to the Epidemic Office of the hospital.

The results of the laboratory tests came out quickly. The four college students were negative for COVID-19 nucleic acid and antibodies, and there were no abnormalities in chest CT. During the observation period, the respiratory tract inflammation was significantly improved.

Based on experience, Liu Zengli, a respiratory and infectious disease physician at Beijing You'an Hospital, asked four students whether they had used humidifiers or air conditioners. The cause was quickly determined: because the dormitory air was too dry, they had been using humidifiers.

When cleaning the humidifier, I just scalded it with hot water, and then used it with tap water.

"This is another typical humidifier pneumonia!"

Experts suggest that the humidifier should not be used continuously for more than 6 hours, the air humidity should be maintained at 40% to 60%, and windows should be opened regularly for ventilation.

At the same time, do not add tap water directly, let alone orange peel, grapefruit peel, lemon juice and various essential oils.

Tap water generally contains chlorine and a lot of minerals. Soaking various peels in water for a long time will breed bacteria, which can easily cause respiratory tract inflammation.

Don't add a variety of sterilization products to the humidifier. These products may cause respiratory tract damage and even irreversible pulmonary fibrosis after being inhaled.

It is recommended to use pure water and clean the humidifier regularly every 3 to 5 days.
