The marvelous storyteller is for children between 2 and 7 years old -

Joyeuse

  • The small electronic cube, designed for children between 2 and 7 years old, is still improving and gaining more and more followers.

  • "This is the first electronic toy made in France," welcomes the boss of the company Seico, which manufactures it, in Loire-Atlantique.

You have to shake it to turn it on, place it on the correct side according to the story or the song you want to listen to, then tap it to turn it off.

These are the instructions to know if you are one of the 40,000 parents, uncles or grandmothers who will give a child in their life a "wonderful story" for Christmas.

Like last year, where 15,000 units were sold, this small electronic and colorful cube made in France near Nantes, sold at a price of 79.90 euros, should be all the rage under the tree.

“We risk being out of stock for the last few days,” even warns Mathieu Roumens, 51, who set up the company Joyeuse, in 2017.

It was when he saw his 3-year-old son "haped by screens and laptops" that this Parisian entrepreneur had the idea of creating "a playful and funny device, with an interface truly dedicated to children between 2 and 7 years ".

After a first version containing about sixty stories, which the little ones can activate on their own, the object has improved.

"For example, you can add MP3s or record your own voice and send it free to the storyteller," assures Mathieu Roumens.

Children can listen to grandparents read a story to them, it's great in times of confinement.

Even if that obviously does not replace a physical presence.

Another storyteller, specially addressed to toddlers up to 2 years old, has also just been born.

It offers a softer design and lullabies, adapted to the baby's universe.

"The first electronic toy made in France"

Enough to do the business of the electronics company Seico, which has been making turbines in recent days in its plant in Malville, in Loire-Atlantique.

At the moment, eight people are assembling electronic boards designed on site, with batteries, speakers and other components, all from Asia.

“At all stages and then before shipping, we obviously carry out a whole series of tests,” explains Eric Lamboley.

It is the first electronic toy made in France, and the first that we make, there is no way there is a problem!

"

The Seico factory, based in Malville (Loire-Atlantique) manufactures the storyteller - Joyeuse

All the more so as Joyeuse could soon enter “the top 10” of the customers of this company, so far used to manufacturing educational radars or hand dryers… “Everyone advised me to have them manufactured in China, but I knew that there was a know-how in the Pays-de-la-Loire, recalls Mathieu Roumens.

There is clearly an additional cost linked to labor, but it is important for me, and Seico has shown its ability to manufacture in large series.

"

While production should therefore increase further next year, this will also be the case for the start-up Joyeuse.

The team, currently made up of six people, could double in 2021.
