MacKenzie Scott, the former wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, donated 4.2 billion dollars (3.4 billion euros) in the Corona crisis.

The money will benefit 384 organizations in the US that support people affected by the pandemic, as Scott wrote on Tuesday in an article on the "Medium" platform.

The pandemic hit the lives of disadvantaged people like a "wrecking ball".

"The economic losses and health effects were worse for women, people of color and poor people".

At the same time, billionaires' fortunes continued to grow, Scott added, without naming her ex-husband Bezos.

Its fortunes were estimated to have grown by almost 80 percent during the pandemic.

The Amazon founder is considered the richest person in the world.

Her divorce from Bezos had made Scott a multi-billionaire last year.

She then joined the “giving pledge” initiative and promised to donate a large part of her fortune.

She had already announced in July that she had donated around $ 1.7 billion.

This benefited, among other things, anti-racism associations and organizations that campaign for public health, equality, democracy and the fight against climate change.
