Hong Kong Customs has seized about 8 million suspected illicit cigarettes in Yuen Long, with an estimated market value of about 22 million Hong Kong dollars and a taxable value of about 15 million Hong Kong dollars.
So far this year, the number of illicit cigarettes seized by the customs has exceeded the number of illicit cigarettes seized in a single year in the past 20 years, and has exceeded the total number of illicit cigarettes seized in the past three years.
