It is certain that the'Yandeunghoe', a Buddhist event held to celebrate the birth of the Buddha, will be on the representative list of human intangible cultural heritage.



The Cultural Heritage Administration judged the'Lantern Lighting Festival in the Republic of Korea', which the Korean government applied for registration as a representative list by the evaluation body under the Intergovernmental Committee (Intangible Heritage Committee) of the UNESCO Convention on the Protection of Intangible Heritage, and decided'recommendation for registration'. It was announced on the 17th that it had been down.



The evaluation body categorizes the evaluation results into Inscribe, Refer, and Not to inscribe, and recommends them to the Intangible Heritage Committee, but the decision on recommendation for listing is rarely reversed.



Accordingly, it is certain that Yeondeunghoe will become Korea's 21st intangible cultural heritage.



In Korea, including Jongmyo Jerye and Jongmyo Jeryeak, Pansori, Gangneung Danoje, Ganggangsullae, Namsadangnori, Yeongsanjae, Jeju Chilmeoridang Yeongdeunggut, Cheoyongmu, Gagok, Daemokjang, falcon hunting, Taekgyeon, tightrope walking, Hansan moshi weaving, Arirang, Kimjang culture, Nongak , Tug-of-War, Jeju Haenyeo culture, Ssireum, etc. It has 20 human intangible cultural heritages.
