Science Council to establish a new working group to promote "dialogue with society" October 16 6:22

Regarding the fact that the six member candidates recommended by the Science Council of Japan were not appointed, the Science Council of Japan has decided to establish two new working groups in order to widely convey its activities and roles to society and promote dialogue.

In response to the failure to appoint the six member candidates recommended by the Science Council of Japan, the Science Council clarified the reason to Prime Minister Suga and submitted a request for a new appointment. We set up a working team to study what the Science Council should be and started discussions.

On the 15th, Chairman Takaaki Kajita of the Science Council announced to members and others that he would take responsibility for this matter together with executives, and to widely convey the activities and roles of the Science Council to society and promote dialogue. It has been revealed that two working groups will be set up within the Science Council.

One of the two working groups will engage in dialogue with a wide range of societies such as the state and citizens, and the other will promote information sharing and dialogue with related academic societies and members.

In addition to the extremely large impact of science and technology on society, the response to the socio-economic recovery damaged by the new corona has continued, and it has been possible to make recommendations to the national government and society from an academic standpoint. We would like to strive to fulfill our role better by responding to the above-mentioned demands and solving the issues facing society.
