The Deadline site announces that Netflix is ​​working on a serial adaptation of the character created by Robert E. Howard, Conan the barbarian.

Screenwriters and directors are sought for this project which, for the moment, has no casting or date of shooting or broadcast.

Conan the barbarian soon on Netflix?

The character created in the 30s by Robert E. Howard and played on the big screen by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 80s will be adapted in series by the platform, in real shots, reports the Deadline site.

According to the site, the project is carried by the company Pathfinder Media (Fredrik Malmberg and Mark Wheeler), and would be "the first project of an agreement between Netflix and Conan Properties International".

The idea would therefore be to be able to create a universe around Conan the Barbarian and not just a series.

The project currently has no release date or casting, and would be looking for a screenwriter and a director.

Amazon had the same idea

Author Robert E. Howard introduced the character of Conan the Barbarian, or Conan the Cimmerian, in a series of short stories first published in 1932 in

But it was especially popularized from the 70s with its adaptations in comic strip comics at Marvel then at Dark Horse.

The character was also played by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the movie Conan the Barbarian (1982) and then in Conan the Destroyer (1984). 

This is not the first time that a series project around the character has seen the light of day for the small screen: the famous warrior appeared in

 in 1992 then in

 in 1997. There are two Years in 2018, a drama series based on Howard's work was also said to be in development at Amazon ... with no news since.
