On the 30th, the Japan Motion Picture Producers Federation held a press conference in Tokyo with its four major member film companies and announced the box office revenue of films screened in Japan over the past year.



According to the results,


▽The first place went to ``THE FIRST SLAM DUNK,'' a film adaptation of a popular basketball-themed manga, with 15.87 billion yen.



▽Second place goes to ``The Super Mario Bros. Movie,'' a foreign movie based on the world of the game series created in Japan, with 14.02 billion yen. ▽Third place goes to a



movie based on the popular manga ``Detective Conan.'' The 26th film in the series, “Detective Conan: The Black Iron Fish Shadow,” earned 13.88 billion yen.



Fourth place went to director Hayao Miyazaki’s first feature film in 10 years, “How Do You Live?” Anime movies accounted for the top four with 8.84 billion yen.



Due to the strong performance of anime works, the total box office revenue for movies last year was 221,482 million yen, an increase of 3.9% compared to the previous year.



Yoshinari Shimatani, president of the Japan Motion Picture Producers Federation, said, ``Six of the top 10 Japanese films in terms of box office revenue were animated films, exceeding the previous year.Japanese films have returned to pre-coronavirus levels. I can say that.''
