On 21 August, Minister of Culture and Sports Amanda Lind announced that the cultural sector will be allocated an additional SEK 1.5 billion, while sports will receive SEK 1 billion in crisis support.

Today, the government came up with guidelines for how the money should be distributed.

The Swedish Sports Confederation will handle the distribution and Amanda Lind emphasizes that the focus is on the associations surviving - not on the elite clubs recruiting new players.

More money for free cultural life

For culture, it is about support in the acute crisis but also stimuli for recovery in the future.

The largest amount of money will be distributed by the Swedish National Council for Culture, a total of SEK 881 million.

Up to SEK 400 million will function as crisis support for cultural organizers for the period June to September.

80 million will be spent on infectious cultural events, while the rest of the money will be used to stimulate free cultural life where the Swedish Arts Council feels it is needed.
