The progression of the coronavirus epidemic is "exponential" in metropolitan France, according to a press release from the Directorate General of Health (DGS). There have been 7,379 new cases of Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, against 6,111 Thursday and 5,429 Wednesday, and 32 new "clusters", according to figures released this Friday by the DGS. The Hexagon recorded 20 new deaths in one day, bringing the total toll to 30,596 deaths from Covid-19 since the arrival of the epidemic in the territory.

There are currently 4,535 people hospitalized for a Covid-19 infection, and 387 in intensive care. Four regions group together 71% of patients in intensive care. They are Ile de France, Hauts-de-France, Occitanie, and Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur.

"Although remaining at limited levels, hospital indicators are increasing, especially in regions where viral circulation is the most intense", estimates the DGS. In Overseas Territories, the DGS counts 190 hospitalizations, including 38 in intensive care.
