Jul put his gold records up for auction for a charity sale. - FIFOU

  • Jul and his record company have teamed up with the famous Drouot to organize a charity auction.
  • Among the 50 lots, the rapper donated his many gold, platinum and diamond records.
  • For the Drouot auction house, this original initiative is already a success.

Jul has his heart on his hand, and his fans make him feel good. The Marseille rapper, one of the most productive in the current French rap scene (and one of the biggest sellers), has also shown solidarity with the hospital sector in order to fight against the Covid-19 pandemic. In addition to a donation of 30,000 euros to the order of the French Hospitals Foundation, the artist entrusted more than thirty of his gold, platinum and diamond disks for a charity auction donated to the Emergency Aid Fund of this Foundation.

For this, the artist and his record company Believe have teamed up with the famous Drouot auction hotel which is organizing this unprecedented operation until April 27. A total of fifty lots are offered for sale (others could join the list in the coming days), because other artists like Djaja and Dinaz, Kalash Criminel or even Mister V, followed suit with the solidarity sponsor of this initiative. And if there are still a few days for bidders to come forward, this solidarity sale stamped "French rap game" is already a hit.

Over 100,000 euros in auctions

Concerning the 39 collectors objects brought by Jul, the auctions amount to more than 100,000 euros. The flagship of the sale is for the moment his diamond disc awarded for the album My World (released in 2015), which climbs to 23,500 euros. If Jul did not respond to requests from 20 Minutes , he thanked his fans several times for these donations in Instagram stories.

A “success” recognizes Didier Lange, the managing director of Drouot. If he admits that this sale is somewhat out of the ordinary (we are far from the classical art objects sold usually), the enthusiasm for these objects does not surprise him: "I knew the artist a little, so I knew he was followed a lot. We had already had sales of objects and discs that belonged to personalities who had obtained major auctions, so there was no reason why this was not the case here. The operation, far from being finished, should be relaunched next weekend by "the last auction battle".

If Drouot obviously does not perceive anything from this sale, Didier Lange welcomes the initiative of these artists and the record company. "It is a generous idea, to associate like that in a charitable sale can only be estimable," he explains. Almost at a standstill since the start of containment (apart from a few online sales), it must be said that Drouot is not ready to try it out, and has already organized two solidarity operations of this kind, a first led by the sports world, and a second by Anne Roumanoff. “We are offering them the benefit of our platform, we are trying to ensure that the sale goes well, that it has good visibility. We are really there as support ”, specifies the general manager.

Meals and equipment for nursing staff

Donated to the Fondation des Hôpitaux de France, the funds raised will come in particular to “finance the delivery of meals for nursing staff, medical equipment for establishments in need and digital tablets to combat the isolation of people vulnerable to 'hospital', explained the record company Believe in a press release.

The happy purchasers of Jul's certifications will have to wait for the end of confinement to receive their objects. If Jul had to part with his precious platinum and diamond discs, he is widely trusted to reap new ones in the years to come.
