According to the Fuzhou Intermediate People's Court, recently, the Supreme People's Court made a ruling in accordance with the law on the defendant Wu Xieyu's death penalty review case for intentional homicide, fraud, and buying and selling identity documents, and approved Wu Xieyu's death sentence.
The Supreme People's Court reviewed and confirmed that the defendant Wu Xieyu was pessimistic and world-weary, and had thoughts of suicide. After his father died of illness, he believed that his mother Xie's life had lost meaning. In the first half of 2015, he had the idea of killing Xie and started shopping online. Tools of crime. At about 17:00 on July 10, 2015, Wu Xieyu took advantage of Xie's return home to change his shoes and repeatedly hit Xie's head and face with a dumbbell bar, causing Xie's death. Later, Wu Xieyu concealed the truth that Xie had been killed by him from his relatives and friends, and fabricated the idea that Xie accompanied him to study abroad. He defrauded his relatives and friends of 1.44 million yuan and squandered it on the grounds that he needed living expenses, tuition fees, proof of financial resources, etc. In order to avoid detection, Wu Xieyu purchased more than 10 identity documents to conceal his identity.
In the early morning of April 20, 2019, Wu Xieyu was captured at Chongqing Jiangbei Airport. On August 26, 2021, the Fuzhou Intermediate People's Court publicly pronounced the first instance verdict on the defendant Wu Xieyu's case of intentional homicide, fraud, and buying and selling of identity documents in accordance with the law. In September 2021, Wu Xieyu appealed to the court. On May 30, 2023, the Fujian Provincial Higher People's Court publicly announced the second instance verdict on Wu Xieyu's appeal for intentional homicide, fraud, and selling of identity documents. It ruled to reject the appeal and uphold the original verdict.
The Supreme People's Court held that the intentional homicide committed by the defendant Wu Xieyu was cruel, the circumstances were abominable, the crime was extremely serious, it seriously violated human ethics, seriously trampled on the public's cognition and emotions, and caused extremely bad social impact; continuous implementation Intentional murder, fraud, and identity card buying and selling crimes are deeply subjective and vicious, and there is no sincerity in repentance, and should be punished in accordance with the law.
