Chinese authorities have announced on Tuesday that they have successfully developed a coronavirus vaccine , and have therefore approved human trials , the Defense Ministry said in a statement.
The vaccine, which was carried out by the medical team led by epidemiologist Chen Wei , was obtained after the outbreak of the virus, whose epicenter is located in the Chinese city of Wuhan, left more than 7,800 dead in all over the world , 3,226 of them in mainland China.
"The vaccine has been approved for its safety, efficacy and quality by third parties and, according to Chen, it has completed its preliminary preparation for mass production," the text said.
Last February, the authorities of the Asian giant indicated that they planned to start testing newly developed vaccines in humans in April to prevent the virus from spreading.
This Tuesday, Chinese scientists have made great strides after a group of infected monkeys effectively developed "immunity" to the coronavirus as part of a series of experiments, according to reports in the local newspaper "The South China Morning Post."
