For several weeks, they hoped for the return of snow. Since yesterday, the wish of the heads of the Pyrenees ski resorts has been granted. In 24 hours, several centimeters of snow fell and up to 50 cm on certain tracks at altitude. And falls are still announced by the end of the week.

Enough to give morale to the operators who, during the first three weeks of the winter congress had to deal with snow cannons, when some of them closed their tracks altogether.

Admittedly, the vacationers had sun, but little white on the horizon. Not to mention the transport of snow by helicopter to ensure a minimum of activities but which has attracted many critics.

If the resort of Mourtis does not reopen its doors so far, the areas which have provided in recent weeks the minimum skiing have strengthened their offers.

Redo the snow stocks

“The trend was ski-bashing, especially in the Pyrenees. There, that reassures and that makes it possible to redo the stock of snow and to say that the end of the season is assured, all the more that certain stations plan to close late ", advance Anaïs Aguillon of the company N'Py which gathers eight stations of the massif, including Peyragudes or Cauterets.

The latter must stop its ski lifts on April 26, others in late March. “There is still a good month to go skiing, with weekend offers. We have an advance, we opened early and we had a good Christmas vacation. We are on a bit offbeat winters, we are getting used to it ”, relativizes Anaïs Aguillon.
