  • In the midst of a facelift, the Antibes nautical stadium has two 50 m pools.
  • One of them has a video device made up of six underwater cameras and a mobile camera on the surface.
  • This installation should allow a better analysis of the movement of athletes from the Cercle des nageurs d'Antibes.

It is a fixed installation unique in France. Seven cameras now equip one of the two 50 m pools at the Antibes nautical stadium. Six of them are installed underwater, behind portholes, while a mobile completes the device.

"It's a real plus," explains Alain Bernard, vice-president of the Cercle des nageurs d'Antibes. With this video system, coupled with the analysis of swimming data [obtained thanks to a box placed under the swimmers' cap], we have two powerful tools allowing to develop learning within the club. "

Peeling the gesture

Thanks to the VoGo Sport application developed by the eponymous Montpellier company, coaches can select the images they want, in real time or delayed, in order to dissect the gestures of swimmers from all angles. “Between intuition and execution, there can be a difference. This system allows athletes to see each other, which is very useful, ”said the Olympic champion.

Worth € 17,000 (cameras, server and touchscreen tablet only), video capture will benefit everyone, "girls from synchronized swimming to Masters," says Alain Bernard.

Dutch specialty

A similar video capture system is used by the Dutch in the Pieter van den Hoogenband nautical stadium. The images obtained are studied by researchers in biomechanics. "It's part of their culture," says Alain Bernard.

Note that the athlete from Antibes used video himself when training with Denis Auguin.
