Are you registered on an electoral list to vote at the next municipal elections, which will take place on March 15 and 22? If this is not the case, you still have one day to do the procedures, until Friday, February 7.

The registration request can be made by going to the town hall of his domicile with an identity document, proof of address and the registration request form, by mail addressed to the town hall but also online on the site service-public.fr. An additional period will be granted until March 5 in certain cases, especially for young people who will be 18 years old between February 7 and March 14 and who have not been automatically registered.

47 million voters in 2019

To facilitate the participation of people who meet the registration conditions for the first time, INSEE automatically registers them. Those who have moved or have not voted for a long time can check their electoral situation online.

During the Europeans in May 2019, 47.34 million people were registered on the French electoral lists. That is 1.57 million more than for the 2014 municipal elections. The municipal elections are the only direct universal suffrage scheduled for 2020. Only the "big voters", mainly from municipal councils, will vote in the senators of September. In the spring of 2021, two intermediate polls, the regional and departmental elections, will however precede the 2022 presidential election.
