The ambition is to inaugurate this new site for the 50th anniversary of the Angoulême comics festival. Imagiland, an amusement park entirely dedicated to the world of comics, will open its doors in 2023 in La Couronne (Charente), at the gates of the French capital of comics.

The “Stargazer” Gaston Lagaffe, the “Flying Theater” Yakari, the “Playland” Marsupilami, the interactive “Dark Ride” Valerian, the “Roller Coaster” Boule and Bill or even the immersive tunnel Blake and Mortimer… Benefiting from group licenses Media Participations (Dargaud, Dupuis, Le Lombard…), Imagiland will offer visitors a park of fourteen attractions around several cartoon characters, and a 90-room hotel also taking up the world of comics.

"New technologies and new concepts"

This project is led by Dragontoon Group, a Hong Kong subsidiary of Dragontoon China. This newcomer to the leisure sector is developing several theme park concepts around the world (Shanghai, Beijing, Sri Lanka, etc.). For its French project, Dragontoon will rely on the Vinci group and its subsidiary dedicated to real estate development Adim, and Parexi, the company that developed the theme park dedicated to Spirou near Avignon. Parexi will be the park manager and developer. The Bordeaux architecture agency Brochet / Lajus / Pueyo was chosen to design the park.

"Imagiland will offer a mix between classic outdoor attractions and indoor digital attractions", indicate the project leaders, promising "the integration of new technologies and new concepts." "

Twenty attractions by 2030

A second nature park will complete the whole, "with canyoning on a reconstructed mountain at the edge of a lake, and tree climbing with a children's course, an adult course, an abseiling and an air bag jump. A "nocturnal aquatic show" is also planned. The complex will be spread over 122,000 m2, on the site of the former Lafarge quarry.

Entrance price between 28 and 30 euros

Even if it will only be located 1 hour 30 minutes from Futuroscope in Poitiers, the project leaders believe that there is "little direct competition" and aim for an attendance of 440,000 annual visitors, between residents and tourists.
