  • ROUTE: The 15 most beautiful new villages in Spain

Sheathed in tights and sneakers, savoring a tea in a leisurely manner and with her immense blue eyes set on the horizon. The former model and actress Verónica Blume (Waldshut, Germany, 1977), now a renowned yogi, receives TRAVEL listening to the harmonious sound of birds at Finca Serena , an idyllic hotel located on the island of Mallorca. In this haven of peace, practice one of the retreats that are gaining more and more followers. The idea is to disconnect with the outside and connect with oneself.

But since soligamia - traveling alone - has already been overcome since it is a trend, it goes a step further to flow with a program based on yoga and meditation, healthy food workshops and care through pampering. This is what Blume has offered in its yoga center The Garage in Barcelona since 2015. «It is curious that many come with a preconceived idea about the yogi model and that image is dismantled with just one session». In the end they are able to see what's behind the character, he says. A woman with a German father raised in Argentina and a Uruguayan mother on the way to growth. "No matter what has brought me here, the interesting thing is to end the labels. It's a gift we all need." »

Ask . He has confessed that fashion has never filled him as a person, that it was only his work tool. Do you deny your profession? What have you learned?

Reply. I remember that stage without nostalgia. Although funny, it was crazy. He had been traveling around the world for 10 years every two days. That changed when I got pregnant with my son Lian. Things went wrong with my partner then and I went to Ibiza alone. There I discovered yoga, which helped me heal the body's relationship with my little head.

Q.- Did you get tired of traveling?

A. - Now I value more stability at home because before I kept linking a trip with another. Yes I need punctual but scheduled breaks: to know that I'm going home from here.

Q.- Luxury resort or backpack and what comes up? Kick a city or back and forth in the hammock?

R.- [Laughs]. A mix. That tan in the sun with a bracelet on my wrist does not attract anything. I am restless and I like to meet. This summer in Sri Lanka I got the perfect union between a train trip to disconnect and discover the world and the rest also necessary on vacation when we stopped [refers to his partner, Roger Martin ] in a place a couple of days. I prefer to travel with the backpack in tow. I don't need the resort at all.

Q.- It is active in social networks but, does it turn off the mobile or share your holidays?

A.- There are trips where you like digital detox to forget the rest. However, when you are in a wonderful place you want to show it. I reflect a lot on that need to teach everything to Instagram. Perhaps it is more in favor of sharing it in a family WhatsApp group.

Q.- In which destinations do you find calm?

A.- The places that give me peace always have a common point: the sea. That's why I like living in Barcelona so much and knowing that it's close to home. I especially remember this last trip to Sri Lanka. It was a pass! What a wonder to get out of everything you know! The healthiest thing is to learn from totally different cultures. That clash that you face in Asia when you leave your customs brings a lot.

Q.- A place to repeat?

R.- New Zealand! [emphasizes without hesitation]. I could only be one day and what I saw was so impressive ... It has a wild nature that I loved. I especially liked that feeling of being on the other side of the world.

Q.- Does the suitcase of a model change much to that of a yogi?

A.- I have never been a woman who was wearing makeup or in high heels in her daily life. As I have turned years everything is more consistent. I lived in a constant polarity. While I recognize myself, when I put on that top model suit I didn't identify anything with him. I have simplified more.

Q.- You have traveled a lifetime to go to catwalks and photo shoots. Now he makes withdrawals. What differences do you perceive?

R. - Although it is also work, the retreats have a very important personal and spiritual part because I am giving something and I also receive a lot. Mallorca is a very lively island and yet it seems that time stands still here. I like to open the house door when I return and value the things that surround me. Enjoy the reunion with my son. Each retreat teaches me somehow. Maybe the site inspires you and encourages you to go to another town for another weekend. Or the story of who you have met. You come back with the batteries charged and that is what you transmit.

Q.- And where would it take us to eat well?

A.- I loved The Green Spot, in Barcelona. It is a well known site, which is doing very well. I am pesci-vegetarian, I don't eat meat but I do fish since I was 16 years old. At that time there were lentils, salads and little else. The food is at an interesting point.
