Tokyo Metro Ginza Line relocated to Shibuya Station Operation started at the new station building January 7 7:01

The relocation of Shibuya Station on the Tokyo Metro Ginza Line along with the redevelopment around Shibuya Station has been completed, and operation using the new station building has started from the first train on March 3.

At Shibuya Station on the Tokyo Metro Ginza Line, some sections were suspended and relocated to the platform for six days during the year-end and New Year holidays, and service resumed at the new station building on the morning of March 3.

On the morning of the 3rd, a ceremony to celebrate the completion was held on the platform of a new station building built on Meiji Dori, and tape cuts were made by officials.

The new station building has eliminated the pillars by making the roof an M-shaped arch, and the width of the platform has been doubled to about 12 meters.

In addition, escalators and multifunctional toilets have been newly installed in the station building, which has increased convenience.

Work to install elevators and home doors to prevent falls will continue around the night of July, when the Tokyo Olympics begin.

Shinsuke Shirako of Tokyo Metro, who was in charge of the construction, said, "I am relieved that the station building will be completed in time before the Tokyo Olympics.

A woman in her 40s who uses the subway frequently said, "It was inconvenient so far, so it was nice to be convenient. The building is modern and I feel the flow of the times."
