On the 40th anniversary of the storming of the Grand Mosque in Mecca, Saudi state news channel Al-Ikhbariya published scenes it described as "exclusive" to the attack that rocked the Muslim world.
The channel published a video report documenting the armed operation to storm the Grand Mosque in Mecca, known as the "Juhaiman incident" Al-Otaibi.
The Al-Haram al-Makki incident, which began at dawn on November 20, 1979, took over more than 200 gunmen and took control of the sanctuary under the pretext of "the appearance of the Mahdi."
#Juhaiman Al-Otaibi and his son-in-law, Mohammed bin Abdullah, led the process that shook the Islamic world, and this happened during the reign of the late Saudi King Khalid bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud.
The gunmen quickly closed the doors behind them, blocked the outlets of the Grand Mosque in Mecca, killed the guards, holed up around the mosque, and some of them took the minarets of the sanctuary, and fired on the forces that came to get them out of it.
The footage broadcast by the Saudi news on its Twitter account showed violent clashes between Saudi security forces and militants holed up in a minaret of the Grand Mosque in Mecca.
